OSSEOUS

An ongoing project exploring the skeletons, skulls and bones that form part of the collection at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. These stark, almost bleached forms are shot on Polaroid Originals B&W 600, a high contrast black and white instant film. The deep blacks and crisp whites highlighting the contrast between the subjects and the background. Several of the shots have undergone a quasi-sepia tone process whereby the shots are intentionally over heated during development.

The frames of each Polaroid are removed, revealing the skeletal structure of the image itself thematically linking the image and the medium. Excess negative is displayed, lending the images a decayed, distressed feel.
